In my little corner of Florida I’ve learned that very few people knew who Charlie Kirk was. Charlie, as most people know now, was assassinated this week during a rally on the campus of Utah Valley University. I’ve been offering prayers for him at Mass this week, although I’m sure that many in the congregation simply don’t know much, if anything, about him. It’s safe to say that we pretty much live in a bubble here in Sun City Center.

9/21/25 – I’ve just come across a video by Fr. Mike Schmitz, who speaks about truth and violence in relation to Charlie’s murder. Fr. Mike is also a well-known Catholic priest who is widely followed and respected in Catholic circles. His “Catechism in a Year” and “Bible in a Year” series are two of his best known works. I’ve added his video below.
